“Part biographical, perhaps even part autobiographical and all adventure, Baronesa by the ineffable chanteuse Cristina Morrison is an amorous masterpiece.” Raul Gama, LATINJAZZNET
New York based actor, songwriter and singer, Cristina Morrison promises a repertoire of original and upbeat compositions effortlessly combining jazz elements with popular rhythms on her new album Baronesa (Jazzheads Records).
Affectionately known as the Baroness of Jazz, Cristina Morrison’s second album draws upon her life experiences – featuring songs in four different languages (English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) with a diverse mix of music styles stemming from jazz – tango, cha cha, drum & bass, bolero and even spoken word making this record an eclectic cross genre world jazz “tour de force”.
Cristina is deeply committed to contributing to the environmental and social conscience of Galapagos children. She supports an educational arts program called Arteducarte in all the public schools of Isabela Island. A portion of the proceeds from her records sales helps sustain the program yearly so she invites you to help support it. www.cristinamorrison.com
Cristina’s new indie films, “Translucido/Thin Walls” by Leo Zelig & “Nadie nos mira/Nobody’s Watching” by Julia Solomonoff are expected to be released in 2016. She also feels honored to be nominated for a Best Actress ATI (Independent Theatre Artists-New York) Award for her role in Tabula Rasa’s Theatre Company’s production of “El Invierno de abril/The winter of April”.
At Subrosa she will be joined by:
Cristina Morrison – lyrics & vocals
Misha Piatigorsky – music & piano
Sean Conly: bass
Ludwig Afonso: drums
Ramiro Scalzi: percussion
